Back to its roots with the expansion of the GlutzEdition: In Riedtwil on 17.04.2008 Glutz AG signed the contract with Kohler AG for the take-over of the foundry activities.
So the strategic expansion of Glutz enters the next round: For once though, this does not concern the integration of a company in the High-End sector but the retention and expansion of traditions and values. From 1st May 2008 the foundry sector of Kohler AG is being integrated into Glutz AG. The Riedtwil site is being retained and the personnel taken over. Additionally the foundry team has been enlarged by an experienced specialist who, with entrepreneurial and artistic flair will align and develop the foundry to the needs of the future.
It was in 1867 that Glutz – still known then as VGB - was affiliated for the first time to a metal foundry; and now Glutz is going to be casting once again, only this time in Riedtwil. For Glutz the integration of the foundry is a dream come true: to preserve for posterity a valuable cultural asset.
With the rounding-off of high quality brass and fittings with Glutz Edition, together with the addition of artistic cast products, Glutz is extending its market leader role and aims to achieve lasting strengths in the fittings sector. The further processing of cast, mechanical parts is guaranteed through the cooperation with KOHLER Galvanik GmbH.
Clients and architects will be able to profit from the amalgamation of traditions, ideas and design in the renovation and new building market from the outset. In the medium term the historic moulds and the casting are to be made accessible to a wide public.
The foundry is being managed within the Glutz business sphere and will be self-supporting. We are proud that this integration brings Glutz even closer to its obligations towards the standards of Swiss quality and manufacturing.
